We may have encountered a bad apple from the bunch because the new unit worked well and the sound quality was excellent. A call into Peripheral Audio's tech department saw us wait 14 minutes before talking to a real person and even then, they said they had never heard of that problem. Luckily we unplugged it before the 30G iPod was wiped of its music and movies. One quick touch of the iPod and we instantly realized the cable was sending too much voltage to the iPod. Out of the box and into the truck, we plugged the iPod into the cable and after a few seconds, we smelled something burning.
However, there was one snag when it came to the Peripheral unit. This kit was simple to install and worked very well once plugged in.
